Steel Trees

The pillars of steel, these trees of iron and heat
Hold up the platform, housing the elite
Taller and taller the trees of steel grow
Less and less parity begins to show

The elevator rides to the top
Top-hats and coattails, evening gowns and frocks
A cacophony of class, with symmetry to pass
The tallest of the trees, independent and free

But alas it is not so
For without the roots your tree cannot grow
A sad sight it is to admire a flower
When slightly below is the source of its power

Now with this seed embedded in your mind
Take away the roots
And your steel trees
Cannot stand
